Kathie Fong Yoneda

With over 35 years experience, Kathie Fong Yoneda has worked for such studios as Paramount, Universal, 20th Century Fox, and Disney, specializing in story analysis and development of live action, animated film, television, novels and web series. Her career includes exec positions with Disney, Touchstone, Island Pictures and Disney TV Animation.

Kathie has given over 300 workshops/seminars throughout the US, Canada, Europe, Australia and Southeast Asia, and wrote a column on screenwriting and the entertainment industry which became the popular book The Script-Selling Game. Some clients include RAI-TV Roma, Disney, Rocaberti Writers Retreat, Master Class Drehbuch, Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, National Film School Denmark, Bournemouth University, ScreenTraining Ireland, Seoul-Webfest, Singapore Media Academy, Wisconsin Film Festival, Roma Webfest, Jakarta Digital Media, Romance Writers of America, Oxford Film Festival, Great American Pitchfest, University of Hawaii, Hawaii International Film Festival, Marseille Web Fest/Writers Residency, Vancouver Screenwriters, Women in Film/TV Atlanta, Melbourne Webfest, Children’s Book Writers of Los Angeles. She has been published, interviewed or written articles for dozens of magazines, radio segments, e-zines, newspapers, film/tv books, blogs, and television shows. She was a guest of The Soviet Peace Committee for a ground-breaking 10-day media symposium in Moscow and was selected Keynote Speaker for Asian-Pacific Heritage Month at The Smithsonian Institute. Kathie received the Mayor’s medal from the city of Marseille for her efforts in Cultural Arts and was honored by the BronzeLens Film Festival as a Catalyst SuperStar for her behind-the-scenes work in media arts.

Kathie and noted script consultant/author Dr. Linda Seger developed a highly-successful 6-day seminar for the training of development executives in Ireland. In addition to seminars with Linda, Kathie also team-teaches with Pamela Wallace (writer-producer, co-writer of Oscar-winning WITNESS). Kathie has also done seminars with Pamela Jaye Smith (author of Inner Drives, The Power of The Dark Side, writer-producer, creator of MYTHWORKS), and Carole Kirschner (author of The Hollywood Game Plan CBS network exec).

Kathie is an independent consultant whose clientele includes several award-winning screenwriters and novelists. Her book, The Script Selling Game: A Hollywood Insider’s Look At Getting Your Script Sold and Produced, is in its second edition and is used as part of screenwriting curricula in dozens of universities worldwide. She also co-exec produced the cable series Beyond the Break (filmed in Hawaii), associate produced The Big O web series, exec-produced the short film Thirty Minutes and is on the Boards of IMAGO (French Production Company), Jaipur International Film Festival and the LAWebfest (world’s first web series festival). She has judged screenwriting competitions as well as been on judging panels at film festivals and web series festivals in the US, Australia, Africa, Asia and Europe.
